Privacy Policy
Quick summary
World Trade Flows uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages get traffic. We do not use ad tracking, we do not sell data, we do not require accounts, and we don't ask you for personal information. The only data we collect about you is anonymous, aggregate usage from GA4. You can opt out at any time by blocking third-party scripts in your browser or installing a content blocker.
What we collect
World Trade Flows uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to count page views, referrers, and basic device/browser information. GA4 is configured with default settings: it sets a small number of cookies and may collect:
- Pages you visit on this site, in what order, and how long you spent on each
- Where you arrived from (referrer URL)
- Approximate location (typically country/region) derived from your IP
- Device type, browser, and operating system
- A randomly generated user identifier for anonymous session stitching
We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any account data. We don't run advertising. We don't share traffic data with third parties beyond Google Analytics itself.
Why we use analytics
We rely on aggregate usage stats to decide which countries, products, and articles to expand. Without analytics it's impossible to know what's useful. We use the minimum tooling needed to answer that question.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies (typically prefixed _ga and_ga_*) on your device. These cookies are first-party (set on the worldtradeflows.com domain) and used solely for analytics measurement. They are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
You can block these cookies via your browser settings or a content blocker; the site will continue to function normally.
Server logs
Our hosting provider (Vercel) may temporarily store standard server logs including IP addresses, request URLs, and timestamps for security and performance purposes. These logs are managed by Vercel and are not used for analytics by us.
Data downloads
When you download trade data in CSV, JSON, or Excel formats, those files are generated and downloaded directly to your browser. We do not record what files you download or how you use them.
Email correspondence
If you contact us via email at info@worldtradeflows.com, we use your email address only to respond to your inquiry. We do not add email addresses to mailing lists or use them for any other purpose.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
- Right to opt out: Block GA4 via your browser, install a tracking blocker, or use Google's official opt-out add-on.
- Right to access / deletion: Because we don't store identifiable user records ourselves, there is generally no individual record to access or delete; refer to Google's GA4 privacy controls for the analytics data Google holds.
- Right to information: This page explains everything we collect.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if we change what we collect or how we use it. Material changes will be noted with an updated date below. We do not currently plan to add additional tracking, advertising, or profiling.
