WorldTradeFlows provides free access to international trade data through:

• Bilateral trade relationship analysis
• Historical trade data (1995-2023)
• Data downloads in CSV, JSON, and Excel formats
• Trade flow visualizations and charts

3. Data Rights and Usage

Permitted Uses

You may freely use WorldTradeFlows data for:

• Research and analysis: Academic studies, market research, policy analysis
• Education: Teaching materials, student projects, presentations

Data Licensing

The underlying CEPII BACI data is available under the Etalab 2.0 license, which permits free reuse including commercial purposes with proper attribution. Our processing and presentation of the data follows the same open licensing principles.

4. Data Accuracy and Limitations

No Warranties

WorldTradeFlows provides data "as-is" without any warranties. We make no guarantees about:

• Data accuracy or completeness
• Timeliness of updates
• Availability of the service
• Freedom from errors or interruptions

Known Limitations

Users should be aware that trade data:

• Reflects reporting by national customs agencies with potential errors
• Excludes services trade and informal/unrecorded trade
• May include re-exports that inflate some countries' trade volumes
• Is subject to confidentiality restrictions in some cases
• Has a typical lag of 12-18 months behind real-time trade

5. Service Availability

WorldTradeFlows is provided free of charge but we cannot guarantee:

• Continuous availability or uptime
• Data will never be temporarily unavailable
• The service will exist indefinitely
• Features will remain unchanged

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, WorldTradeFlows and its maintainers shall not be liable for:

• Any decisions made based on data from this service
• Financial losses resulting from data inaccuracies
• Damages from service interruptions or data unavailability
• Consequences of using outdated or revised data
• Third-party actions based on data from this service

7. Prohibited Uses

You may not:

• Attempt to overload or disrupt the service
• Use automated tools to bulk download without permission
• Misrepresent the source or accuracy of the data
• Use the service for illegal purposes
• Attempt to reverse-engineer or copy the website structure
