Costa Rica imported $22.40 billion of merchandise goods in 2023, making it the world's #83 largest importer. Goods came from 199 source countries, with the top ten sources providing 74.0% of total import value. The leading import was preparations n.e.c. containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or oils from bituminous minerals, valued at $2.47 billion — 11.0% of total imports.
